ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission (HEC) informed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), via a letter, that former Federal Minister Sheikh Waqas Akram and former PML-N MPA Malik Yasir Raza have fake degrees, Express News reported on Saturday.

Earlier, the Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC) had declared that the A-Level certificate of Waqas Akram — who had recently joined PML-N — to be fake. The IBCC further revealed that Akram had not yet submitted his O-Level certificate.

On the other hand, the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench had disqualified Yasir Raza, acting on a petition challenging the validity of Raza’s educational certificate.

Responding to the court’s verdict, Raza had said that the decision of the LHC was unjust and vowed to file an appeal in the apex court against the verdict.
