BALOCHISTAN: An Election Commission of Pakistan office was attacked by a hand grenade in Nushki, Balochistan, Express News reported on Saturday.

A car parked near the office was damaged in the attack.

The security situation in Balochistan has been volatile over the past few months.

The Balochistan election commissioner had submitted a report to the ECP, outlining security concerns in the province ahead of the elections and had suggested increased security for sensitive polling stations.

On March 12, district election commissioner Ziaullah Qasmi was shot dead in Quetta, days before the parliament was due to dissolve. Gunmen on a motorbike shot Qasmi as he went by car to his office, city police chief Mir Zubair Mahmood said.

But the the caretaker cabinet decided to exclude army from election security. Three cheers for such a shallow vision.
