Wheat procurement: Govt to buy 212,300 tons from Bahawalpur

Establishes 28 purchasing centres in district.

BAHAWALPUR:


The government will procure 212,300 tons of wheat from Bahawalpur from local farmers at Rs1,200 per 40 kilogramme bag.


To achieve this goal, the government has established 28 purchasing centres, said District Coordination Officer Dr Naeem Rauf in a meeting on Friday.

Distribution of gunny bags will begin from April 15, which will continue till May 31.

Regarding wheat procurement, a control room at the district level was established in Bahawalpur’s DCO Rauf’s office.

Rauf directed food, revenue, agriculture and other related departments to provide convenience to the farmers to make the campaign successful and complete all the arrangements on time.

He said that hardworking, honest and ambitious staff were deployed in purchasing centres.

The DCO issued instructions to make all purchasing centres in the district, functional.

He also issued directives to ensure the provision of sitting arrangements, tent and cold water for the Market Committee and farmers at purchasing centres and to ensure that farmers are assisted in identifying and reaching their desired counters.

The DCO said that to Centre coordinators and supervisors were there to assist farmers.
