Burn centre: Emergency ward opened to patients

The centre is designed to accomodate as many as 55 patients.

FAISALABAD: The burn centre at the Allied Hospital that has been under construction for over seven years will finally open its emergency ward to patients this month, The Express Tribune has learnt. The construction of the burn centre began in 2006 and was scheduled to be completed in 22 months at a cost of Rs478 million. Allied Hospital Medical Superintendent Rashid Maqbool said the federal and provincial governments were to provide funds for the construction of the unit. He said, the project was delayed due to the unavailability of funds. The centre was designed to accomodate as many as 55 patients. The government recently released Rs45 million out of the Rs200 million for purchase of equipment and furniture for the emergency ward.
