KARACHI: Sindh’s directorate of private institutions has warned The City School to get all of its 50 branches registered with the directorate during the next 15 days.

It is mandatory for all private schools, whether they are affiliated with the Cambridge International Examinations system or with the Aga Khan University Examination Board, to be registered with the directorate which charges Rs10,000 as annul fees from O’ level institutions and Rs15,000 from A’ level institutions.

Rafia Mallah, who heads the directorate, has warned The City School’s regional director, Nudrat Sajid Khan, that action will be taken against them under the Registration Act if they failed to comply with the orders.

The directorate has also asked the British Council to offer O’ and A’ level affiliation only to those schools which are registered.

The schools branches in Sindh have been getting their student’s leaving certificates attested from the British Council office in Lahore, where the chain is registered with the regional directorate.

They have been told by the British Council to get themselves registered with the directorate.

The school’s assistant regional director, Mehwash Ibrar, refused to comment on the matter.
