Paris Saint-Germain, who have confirmed their interest in Wayne Rooney have now put Manchester United on alert, according to ESPN. PSG, who possess the financial means, have made it clear that they are looking towards becoming one of the big players in European football. Bearing this in mind, they will be willing to put a big sum of money at manager Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal in the summer to place a high bid for Rooney. “He is a great player, one of the best strikers in the world,” Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports News. “I think everybody would like it to happen. But if you want to talk about the facts we have not approached him.” Rooney’s future at Old Trafford is far from clear, even though Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted the forward would not be sold in the summer.
