Clucked Away: Police ‘eat’ 24 of 25 seized roosters

Rooster owners said 21 men were arrested last week for betting on roosters’ fight.



GUJRANWALA/ FAISALABAD/ LAHORE: Twenty-four roosters seized from people betting on rooster-fight have disappeared, The Express Tribune was told on Monday.

Rooster owners said the policemen had eaten them. They said 21 men were arrested last week for betting on roosters’ fight.

They said 25 roosters were also seized. The men were presented before a court, where they were told to deposit Rs50,000 surety bonds for their release and Rs100,000 for the roosters.

When the owners reached the police station to claim the roosters, they found that the police men there had eaten 24 of them.

Police said that the roosters had escaped from the police station in the night without anyone noticing them.
