Filing her papers, Fauzia said she considered Musharraf a symbol of oppression and exploitation, and that is why she is contesting against him.
Predicting that she would beat the former president, Dr Fauzia clarified that she was not just fighting the case for her sister -- Pakistani neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqui, who is serving a prison sentence in the US for shooting at FBI agents and soldiers after her arrest in Afghanistan.
Dr Fauzia said that she represented those Pakistanis who wanted to eliminate terrorism, kidnapping and human trafficking.
Musharraf had earlier filed nomination papers on Friday to contest elections for the National Assembly from three constituencies – NA-250 (Karachi), NA-32 (Chitral) and NA-48 (Islamabad).
Apart from the former president, Dr Fauzia will also be up against Dr Arif Alvi from the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Deputy convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Farooq Sattar and former city nazim Niamatullah Khan from the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI).

I think it’s her plain attempt to stand against the wild one, I agree to the fact that she is cashing the popularity she gained from her sister’s name but she is a qualified doctor and isn't ethically as terrible as the corrupt ones we have got on the list.

As far as this election is concern, Musharraf has made a political party and contesting as all other candidates. It would be injustice to say a dictator. But anything relating for his previous tenure you will justified in some way to say him a dictator. What are you going to say about these civilian dictators who are running in the current elections. Why we should vote for them?
He candidature is only going to help the army dictator Mush.
In previous elections candidate belonging to JI have won most, moreover NAIMATULLAH KHAN is karachiites' beloved, I think he is the most favourite
@B: Afia is not God's gift to humanity. There are numerous articles and books on her activities from the time she joined MIT as a student to the time she married an Al-Qaeda operative after divorcing her first husband. None of the stuff has ever been denied. There are dates, names etc. I request some of the above to get as much material as they can before forming an opinion.

Let me explain. 1. It's all about winning. See has a good chance since people see her as victim of Musharraf & have sympathies for her. People don't like US & her sister is jailed on militancy charges. 2. The country has wronged her sister by secretly exporting all militants to US. It's well known that most of people in gautamano jail are Pakistanis or captured from Pakistan. 3. Now Musharraf is back in Pakistan & by there are too many anti mush people who will vote for fauzia.

what MUSH has done and what others have done.. don't wanna get into that but being a voter of this constituency i can tell that Ms. fouzia will only dent PTI and JI'S Vote bank which would ultimately benefit MUSH. Therefore anti Mush parties should think about it beyond their political ideologies because karachites want to get rid of this darkest era of their history. IF MQM+MUSH wins this seat same mess will prevail.
Dr. Fawzia is seeking sympathy vote of her sister. There are thousands of doctors in Pakistan, why only she was caught by Americans in Afghanistan. Definately, she was with terrorists. She defamed Pakistan's name on international level, and it is Pervez Musharraf who took out the Country from the hot water.
I think she is appearing for Election just because of the bad faces of such politicians

only Farooq Sattar could win, if he leaves and gives support for Musharraf than he will win, everyone else is just dreaming.
She is marketing her sister's 'acievements' to gain some sympathies and votes. The so called 'Qoum ki beti' will face embarrassment and nothing else, inshAllah.

Reading the comments above, I totally see why Pakistan is in such a miserable condition. Can you imagine the courage it must take for a woman who is condemmed never to see her sister again, to oppose the one person whose policies led to her having to face such terrible circumstances? Perhaps, I am mistaken, but I am under the impression -- I must have read it somewhere -- that all siblings of Aafia Siddiqui are naturalized American citizens. If that is true, how can Fauzia Siddiqui run in an election in Pakistan? The oath of American citizenship requires one to break all ties with all other countries. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
3rd candidate is all famous ex nazim karachi Naimat Ul Allah Khan.
Terrorists and their sympathizers are given free reign.
Despicable, her sister the terrorist has created enough problems for this world and this country. Good thing she isn't here or she would have been given rose petals for killing my citizens and soldiers. I wasn't going to vote but now its my civic duty to see her lose.
