Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sardar Abdul Rahim joined Pakistan Muslim League - Functional (PML-F) on Saturday to contest NA-250 and NA-251 in the upcoming general election.
Addressing a hurriedly called joint press conference with Pir Pagara at Functional House, he said he joined the PML-F in order to make Pakistani politics better and to continue his role for the betterment of the society.
PML-F has become a mainstream national party and wins seats all across Sindh, he said, adding that he will submit his nomination papers after consulting Pir Pagara.
This is the first time the people of Sindh are trying to find another option for Sindh apart from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), said Pir Pagara, pointing out that the PPP is giving tickets to non-political figures and feudals, which marks its failure.
Criticising the caretaker setup of Sindh, Pir Pagara feared the elections would not be transparent. “But we will have to accept them,” he said. On Pervez Musharraf’s return, he denied meeting the former general for a seat adjustment.
He refused to comment on reports of fallout between Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari, saying that President Zardari was a personal friend.
