PESHAWAR:

Two people were killed in target killings on Thursday, including a volunteer of the Adezai peace militia.

Pervez Khan, an ambulance driver for Mattani Hospital and also a volunteer for the pro-government militia, was gunned down by armed men inside the hospital premises. The police said the attackers were armed with TT pistols.

The victim died on the spot with only one bullet proving to be fatal. Khan was an ardent supporter of the Adezai militia until he was hired by the hospital around five months ago as an ambulance driver, the police said. He had no personal disputes with anyone.

In another incident, 62-year-old tribesman Hassan Khan was shot dead by gunmen in Dabgari area of East Cantt police station. The police said Hassan had just hired a taxi to head to Hayatabad when armed assailants opened fire at him.

The police believe that Hassan was killed over an intra-group dispute ongoing in Khyber Agency since the past eight years.
