ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan banned postings and transfers of all government officials across the country on Tuesday, reported Express News.
The ECP notification said that a ban has also been imposed on the president, caretaker prime minister, chief ministers, governors and their advisors visiting their constituencies.
Legal action will be taken against all violators, the ECP stated.
In February, the ECP had placed a ban on recruitments in government functionaries and on announcement of development schemes to make arrangements for free and fair elections.
The commission had said that announcement of new jobs and development schemes with the elections around the corner were tantamount to pre-poll rigging.

@Ahmad: "Does any body know, how long would the ban continue?" ban applicable till the election gets completed,
Does any body know, how long would the ban continue?
Pakistan gems and jewelry announced some posts in Feb 2012 and they took interviews from us in July 2012. We waited for their reply for months but now they says that new recruitments are banned by the ECP, is this a joke?? Candidates who had political affiliations got their jobs in other institutions but we are still waiting. ECP is used as a weapon by the institutions to reject canditates.
Election Commission issued Notification No. F.8(12)/2012-Cord, dated 22-01-2013 in which recruitment was banned but through a later Notification recruitment in Constitutional vodies was allowed. The present Speaker is making recruitment. The ECP should consider the fact that the Speaker is planning to contest election and she will definitely offer these jobs to her voters and supporters. These recruitments should be stopped immidiately.
Unfortunately, things have gone so bad and so much of mistrust has been created by the political parties wranglings against each other that such extreme steps which are a bit too much need not have been taken. We are looking at everything with doubt and I wonder whether ECP would impose a ban on a citizen's fundamental rights. Are we not going beyond limits??
Lol.. Ecp has done it now.. Ban should have been imposed at least 6 months prior to departure of elected govt
Lol... After departure of elected government e thought about this... This is seriously funny
