Pollen season: Rain welcome relief for allergy sufferers

ISLAMABAD: The current spell of rain which is now into its second day has reduced the pollen count in the federal capital, providing temporary relief to allergy sufferers. After spring set in earlier this month, the pollen count surged and reached an all-time high, with Sector H-8 recording the city’s highest reading. According to the Met Office, pollen counts are expected to increase once again after the city dries up. The city of Islamabad has one of the highest pollen concentrations in the world, largely  due to the high number of paper mulberry trees in the city.
