Power outages: Balochistan farmers to protest on 30th
Zamindar Action Committee Balochistan (ZACB) has announced a complete shutter-down
QUETTA:
Zamindar Action Committee Balochistan (ZACB) has announced a complete shutter-down in the province on March 30 to protest against the long hours of power outages. Speaking at a press conference, the committee said Balochistan should receive 1,170 MW. However, it receives only 370 MW against the demand of 1,550 MW. General Secretary of the committee Abdul Rehman Bazai termed it a ‘conspiracy’ against the people of Balochistan and said that owing to the unequal distribution of electricity the agriculture sector of the province had suffered immensely. He said they were left with no choice but to go on strike in order to register their protest. All the main highways of the province will be blocked in protest and if the problem persists the farmers will stage a sit-in outside the governor’s house on March 11, he warned.
