Jigra justice: Tribal elders resolve murder case
The jirga imposed a fine of Rs10 million on the prime suspect.

The murder case of a former legislator, Rahim Bux Jamali, was resolved by a jirga, headed by former prime minister, Mir Zaffarullah Jamali, in Karachi on Sunday. Rahim Bux Jamali was shot dead on August 20, 2012 in a mosque in Nawabshah. The jirga imposed a fine of Rs10 million on the prime suspect, Ashraf Jamali, and told him to leave Rahim Bux Jamali village. They also told Rahim Bux’s heirs to pay Rs1.5 million to Ashraf’s family as compensation for bulldozing his house after the murder. A number of members of the Jamali clan, including Mir Maqbool Jamali, Abdul Haque Jamali, Dr Daulat Jamali, Bashir Jamali and Muzaffar Jamali, attended the jirga. Rahim Bux Jamali’s daughter, Advocate Benazir Jamali, was also present.
