India recorded a historic 4-0 series whitewash against Australia with an emphatic six-wicket victory in the fourth and final Test yesterday, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Chateshwar Pujara scored an unbeaten 82 off 92 balls with 11 boundaries to help India chase down the target of 155 on a tricky Feroz Shah Kotla track.

“It is a big satisfaction,” said India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. “It was a really good series for us, so overall I think I am very happy with our performance. Everyone contributed, that’s something crucial, we played with five bowlers, one batsman short but the whole team chipped in.”

Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged man of the match while Ravichandran Ashwin, who finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series with 29 scalps at 20.10, was named man of the series.

“After a tough series against England, I had to sit back and work on the videos and I was lucky to have a coach (Sunil Subramaniam) who identified the problem pretty quickly,” said Ashwin. “Credit also goes to Duncan Fletcher and Joe Dawes. I needed a kick on my backside and they gave me one.”
