LAHORE: The election commission has issued directives to several government departments to halt the process of service regularisation of as many as 100,000 contractual employees, The Express Tribune has learnt.

According to the directive issued by the election commission to the Regulation Wing of the Services and General Administration Department, the process will resume after a new government is sworn in. Earlier, the government had issued a notification to the department on March 1 to send the cases of contractual employees from grades one to 15 to scrutiny committees.

Cases of contractual employees from grade 16 and upwards would be sent to the Public Service Commission for regularisation.
