Press conference: Police claim arrest of child rapist

A DNA sample of the suspect had been sent to a lab for verification, says DPO.

BAHAWALPUR: District Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik said on Thursday that a man suspected of raping two girl children had confessed to his crimes.

Speaking at a press conference, the DPO said a DNA sample of the suspect had been sent to a lab for verification. He said on January 9, 2013, a three-year-old resident of Mohallah Shikari in Ahmadpur East, was playing outside her home when she was abducted and raped.

He said the people of the area had hardly gotten over the shock when on February 28, another three year-old-girl resident of Shamsabad, was also abducted and raped in Satellite Town.

He said a team working under the supervision of the SDPO was given the task of investigation and it succeeded in arresting Waqas.
