Two women, Rabailan Ujjan and Rani Ujjan, were kidnapped from the Wada Bhatti village near Fakir Mill on Tuesday night after a teenage girl went missing the same afternoon.
Hazooran Mahar from Maharan Jo Daro village was reportedly kidnapped but some residents claimed that she eloped with a man named Imam Dino Ujjan.
As the news of the missing girl spread, a group of Mahar men conducted a raid in Wada Bhatti village and started shooting. Ali Gohar Ujjan and Qadeer Ujjan were injured as a result. The armed men later kidnapped the two women from the village.
In order to prevent anymore bloodshed, Mureed Wassan, the brother of former MNA Nawab Wassan and a Pakistan Peoples Party leader, intervened and requested both the families to have some patience. The Mahars agreed to hand over the kidnapped women after Hazooran is handed back to her parents. Kotdiji police have yet to file the case.
