96 vehicles were impounded on Tuesday, while 37 vehicles were taken in custody on Wednesday and their glasses cleaned.
The operation was launched after the deputy commissioner imposed Section 144 in the city, declaring all vehicles with tinted glasses illegal. “The provincial government had issued permits, allowing owners to use vehicles with tinted glasses, but after Section 144 was imposed even vehicles with permits have been declared illegal,” said a traffic police official.
A letter has been sent to SP Security to take action against all workshops offering to put on the tints, said the officer. “Due to the present law and order situation, vehicles with dark glasses are really dangerous, so it is important to eliminate all such vehicles,” he added.
According to him, 96 vehicles were impounded on Tuesday, while 37 vehicles were taken in custody on Wednesday and their glasses cleaned. Similarly, 600 unregistered motorcycles were confiscated in two days after a Shia lawyer was gunned down on Dalazak Road on Monday.
“150 motorcycles were released after their owners got them registered,” said the officer, adding two stolen motorcycles were also found during the crackdown and an FIR was registered against their riders.
