LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court chief justice on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging the appointment of Akhtar Buland Rana as auditor general of Pakistan.

The CJ observed that the post of auditor general is similar to that of a judge of the Supreme Court in that only the Supreme Judicial Council would be the right forum to agitate the matter. The petitioner had submitted that there were allegations against Rana and he also held dual nationalities. He said the federal government’s decision to appoint Rana as auditor general was mala fide.
