Leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz confirmed that the three names have bee proposed in a letter sent to Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The nomination consists of former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jahangir, Amir Mehmood and Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa.
Earlier, PPP’s nominees for caretaker prime minister were Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, Dr Ishrat Hussain and Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
No consensus has been reached over a caretaker set-up and the party has claimed the opposition’s nominees are biased towards it.
Correction: An earlier version of the article failed to mention that PPP’s earlier nominees were for caretaker PM. The error has been rectified.

@Punjabi Muslim:
Pick up the number of anti-PPP statements by Asma Jehangir and number of ant-PTI statements. You will know whom she supports. She is one person who rarely praises Benazir Shaheed, what she supports however, is that democracy must prevail. And since Supreme Court is not running in the elections I think its not an issue whether she supports the current judiciary or not.
Surprisingly PPP nominees for the post of Prime Minsiter (except Hafeez Shiekh) and Punjab chief Minister are far better than any other names in the list. All are men of integrity with unblemished records.
The ET reporter does not know that PPP’s nominees Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, Dr Ishrat Hussain and Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh were for Prime minister and Raja Riaz nominees are for Punjab CM. ET please do proper reporting.
Asma is openly opposed to Supreme court, had been critical of PTI. Also opposed to our armed forces, clearly supporter of PPP. SHE NEVER talked against Drone attacks. She is not eligible for this honorable post which requires neutrality and honesty as least criterion.
banned organizations and a sect specially , dislikes her because of her stance for equal rights for minorities specially ahmadis. so she is not gona be cm !
