LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) submitted three nominations for the position of caretaker Punjab chief minister on Monday, reported Express News.

Leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz confirmed that the three names have bee proposed in a letter sent to Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The nomination consists of former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jahangir, Amir Mehmood and Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa.

Earlier, PPP’s nominees for caretaker prime minister were Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, Dr Ishrat Hussain and Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.

No consensus has been reached over a caretaker set-up and the party has claimed the opposition’s nominees are biased towards it.

Correction: An earlier version of the article failed to mention that PPP’s earlier nominees were for caretaker PM. The error has been rectified.

@Punjabi Muslim:

Pick up the number of anti-PPP statements by Asma Jehangir and number of ant-PTI statements. You will know whom she supports. She is one person who rarely praises Benazir Shaheed, what she supports however, is that democracy must prevail. And since Supreme Court is not running in the elections I think its not an issue whether she supports the current judiciary or not.

Surprisingly PPP nominees for the post of Prime Minsiter (except Hafeez Shiekh) and Punjab chief Minister are far better than any other names in the list. All are men of integrity with unblemished records.
