Tortured to death: Gangster Arshad Pappu’s body found in Lyari

Published: March 17, 2013

KARACHI: Police recovered the bodies of gangster Arshad Pappu and his brother Arfat in the Lyari area of Karachi early Sunday morning.

The police claimed that both the men were kidnapped and were tortured to death.

The kidnappers shot them multiple times and chopped the bodies into pieces before throwing them away.

Shera Pathan, another one of Pappu’s accomplices, was also killed in a firing incident a few hours later after the bodies were found.

Pappu, as he is commonly known, was one of the key players in the Lyari gang wars.

He was arrested in 2006 but was released on bail in the 60-something cases against him last year.

He was being kept at a jail in Balochistan.

What goes around comes around. God only knows how many people he butchered like this himself. Karma catching up, what it is. And this sort of fate is awaiting the likes of the other Lyari gangsters who have wrecked a havoc upon this city.

LEAs spring into action on the very day, when the five years long drama of patronizing terrorists, extortionists, killers, rapists and mafias comes to an end. What is utmost important for the caretakers is to get rid of these scums as soon as possible, so this country can put up with destructo-cracy for another five year. Well, done boys. :))

All gangsters deserve the same fate, however, it is high time that the role played by the former interior minister Zulfiqar Mirza in arming these criminals with the most lethal weapons must be thoroughly investigated.

The manner in which this death has been caused seems to be work of another criminal, another mafia don so there’s hardly anything to celebrate. May be the unchecked (neither by police nor by an equal criminal) murderer unleashes more cruetly on the poor inhabitants of Lyari. LEAs need to show some guts as well and cleanse the area of all unwanted elements.

My Question is this that why the persons comes Gangster? like Arshad papu and others who’s the responsable of that? no body want to some one called them Gangster so it is all our responsibility to used all our efforts to stop them to become them a Gangster. not only in Lyari but all over the Karachi and all over the Country.

Gangsters in Lyari were promoted and heavily armed by the PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza. It was under his patronage that these gangsters started their huge extortion business in Karachi. The law-enforcing agencies particularly the Rangers simply looked the other way and allowed these cruel gangsters to take root in Karachi.

Two rangers intelligence personnel tortured to death (07.03.2013) … this is most likely the reflection from intelligence agencies revenge. What you say ?

The sad part is that though Pappu and Dakait might be dead, there are many others being spawned exactly where they came from. I believe no human being ever wants to become what these men were but the system creates such thugs because they serve a purpose. If you hand a young, frustrated teenager a gun, then they will become gangsters. I’m sure Pappu and Dakait deep in their hearts regret and resent the choices they made in life.

  • Mar 17, 2013 - 8:46PM

This is a faction fight. Now one gangster gone, let the police liquidate other rival gangster. Then only the people of Karachi live in peace. Understand Rehman Malik?

If I am not mistaken, his body was also found earlier.

How many times his dead is going to be found?

I still have apprehension that it was not Arshad Pappu’s dead body, as after few months, his dead body will be found again, some where from Lyari or some other part of Karachi.

“Wonder how Zulfiqar Mirza feels these days?… “

I’m confident he feels great. He is part of a system which is still intact and will survive this “little” setback. The day they have no role to play in the society only then they will become weak.
The grand finale is yet far far away.

Its not about only the gangsters, killing each other, its about the failure of state that such BRUTAL incidents occurs in open.
These gangsters not only do this inhuman things to rival gangs but also to the INNOCENT citizens of Karachi as well.
How the Karachi citizens get rid from theire PROTECTION money demands when they do it too lethal and authoritative in City ?

As Imran pointed out above “The manner in which this death has been caused seems to be work of another criminal, another mafia don so there’s hardly anything to celebrate.”

Arshad Pappu was the counter-force for the so-called Peoples Aman Committee. Just as the govt. arranged for life-long perks and back-dates salary raises for themselves in the last 48 hours of their rule, they also made sure that Arshad Pappu was out of sight to ease pressure on PAC later.

What the media dare not report, because the killers of Pappu wouldn’t allow them to enter Lyari is that, Arshad Pappu’s body was hanged in Lyari publically for hours while his tormentors danced triuphantly around it.

If Lyari is so free of crime and violence now, can a media team enter and report on the peaceful happenings going therein?

    @Rizwan: agree with you.
When it comes to their own Fate, they will make it worst example of it. As they did with Pappu. They should have taken this action long time ago.

i appreciate everybodys comments but people i have no hard feelings for anyone, everybody knows he was a gangster and and murderer but what i really object on what they did to him, killing a human being this teach is really not this at all, by showing what they done to him is not symbol of bravery or its not justice, god is great to judge but disrespecting a deadbody is really not in islamic teaching, in all islamic battles this never happened but it happened in KARBALA by Yazid, they shot him several times he was dead justice was done, but after killing him n makin pieces of him is just insanity, you all talking about this murderer fates well whoever did this can happen to those people also so again we all wil sit n write about their fate, lets educate others rather then taking about this guys fate n appreciating those who did this, let me make my point clear. sorry again people what ever i said is not in favor of this guy im talking about humanity and our teachings, thank U allRecommend

Arshad Papu was killed by gang members; His catastrophic killing is a shame for many; He was be-headed and football was played with his head; his body was dragged in the streets of Lyari; Are we living in 21st century.Recommend
