‘Tolerance Day’: Houses to be handed over starting today
"There is a dire need to introduce reforms to remove shortcomings in the society,” says Sharif.
LAHORE:
The handing over of repaired houses to Joseph Colony residents will start on Friday (today), claimed Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday while addressing a meeting called to review the pace of rehabilitation work.
The Punjab government will also observe Friday as ‘Tolerance Day’, “to create religious harmony, peace and brotherhood among Muslims and followers of other religions,” according to a DGPR press release.
The Punjab government was observing Tolerance Day, said Sharif, because intolerance had marred the society and there was a “dire need to introduce reforms to remove shortcomings in the society”. He called the burning of houses and churches “inhuman and reprehensible” acts.
