LAHORE: The resignation of Pervez Rafique from the Punjab Assembly has been accepted by the speaker and a notification to this effect will be issued on Thursday. Rafique resigned from the assembly in protest over the arson attack in Joseph Colony. Rafique said he was pleased that the Supreme Court had taken suo motu notice of the incident. He criticised the Punjab government, saying it had refused to accept responsibility for its failure to protect Christians. He said that if the chief minister does not resign, PML-N non-Muslim representatives should resign from the assembly to express solidarity with the Christian community.
