Five Bahauddin Zakariya University students were injured on Monday in a clash between two groups.

Sub Inspector Tahir Maqsood, in charge of the university police post, said that earlier two students had quarreled over entry into the main hall where a concert was going on.

Later, he said, one of the students shot at some students from the rival group from the roof of Usman Hall, the boys’ hostel. One of the students, Javed, was hit in the leg. Some of Javed’s friends tried to catch the boy with the gun.

They were followed by more students. Four more people were injured in the brawl between the two groups that followed. They stopped when the university administration called the police.

The injured were taken to Nishtar Hospital, from where they were all discharged a few hours later.  Police arrested a student on suspicion of shooting.
