Rs12,000 for every BISP-registered family

The government is planning to pay Rs12,000 to each flood-affected family in Gilgit-Baltistan.

GILGIT: The government is planning to pay Rs12,000 to each flood-affected family in Gilgit-Baltistan, The Express Tribune has learnt.

The beneficiaries, according to official sources, will be those registered under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). All arrangements have been made accordingly. The amount will be paid in three installments and the first has been dispatched through post offices to ensure transparent distribution.

The BISP spokesperson said that the message was being conveyed to people through local radio channels and newspapers, so that no one was missed out. He said that 29,039 beneficiaries were registered and getting routine funds.

Nearly 30,000 people were affected by the floods in Gilgit-Baltistan.
