Rescue truck overturns in flood water

A railway official was killed and six others were injured as truck overturns due to excessive floodwater.

MULTAN: A railway rescue truck at Gurmani station overturned due to excessive flood water. A railway official was killed and six others were injured.

According to railway officials, the Khanewal shade rescue truck was headed towards the Gurmani station bearing supplies and transporting volunteers to help carry out relief work in flood affected zones. The truck overturned due to the strong current of floodwater. 38-year-old wireman Muhammad Ajmal drowned as a result. Electrician Sattar, diesel fitter Muhammad Yousuf, RTL helper Bashir Ahmed, boiler mechanic Muhammad Ashiq, RTL helper Javed Iqbal and driver Muhammad Ramzan were severely injured in the accident. Deputy district superintendent (DS), district coordination officer (DCO), DMO and other officials reached the scene of the accident and Ramzan was discharged after being administered first aid. Other injured passengers were shifted to the Multan DHQ for treatment. A total of 14 relief workers and officials were on board the truck. Railway workers have expressed their condolences to the deceased Muhammad Ajmal’s family. His body was handed over to his brother for burial by the rescue workers. Ajmal was buried in Khanewal on Friday night.
