‘Unknown militants’: Boundary walls of house damaged in blast

An explosive device damaged the boundary walls of house in the urban limits of Mansehra, police said on Thursday. However, no loss of life was reported after the explosion that forced the area people to rush out of their homes.


City police quoted Khurram Rasheed a resident of Mohalla Dabb, as saying that he was asleep with his family members when at around 1 am the external wall of his house collapsed after blast.

He told the police that the deafening bang destroyed the major portion of his house, however the main building and inmates remained safe.

The area people also rushed out of their homes after the explosion. The complainant however did not nominate anyone in the terrorist activity.

According to police, “unknown persons planted explosives of small quantity in a bottle near the wall which went off after some time”. The bomb disposal squad reached there and collected the material for examination.

It has yet to be confirmed whether it was a remote controlled IED or a simple one, the official added. The police have registered case against unknown accused. Sources told that the Mansehra district has witnessed several terrorism related incidents including an attack on NGO workers during the last three years.
