The passport and immigration office at Torkham border was closed for three hours on Thursday after threats from militants.
Ali Haider, an official posted at the Pak-Afghan border, said when he went to work at 7.15am, he saw a pamphlet from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan pasted on his office door. The letter said they should shut down the office or prepare for dire consequences.
Fearing a bomb in the premises, officials shifted all documents, equipment, including computers, from the room.
The official said the office remained closed till 10am while all travellers were informed of the extra security measures. The office was reopened after security officers, deployed at the border, reached the site.
