The Lahore High Court on Monday directed the Punjab government to pay the compensation it promised to a cameraman for a private television channel who was injured while covering a marathon organised by the government in 2012.
Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan directed the government to comply with the order within two weeks. Cameraman Aftab Shah had filed a petition through lawyer Aftab Bajwa submitting that the government had announced compensation of Rs1 million for him. He said that the Bank of Punjab had been ordered to release the payment, but a year later, had still not done so. Shah was injured when a steel gate of Punjab Stadium fell on him.
