KARACHI: Shia Ulema Council leader Allama Nazir Abbas, while addressing a press conference, demanded that the Pakistani army carry out a targeted operation against Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-e-Sahaba (SSP) in Karachi, Express News reported.

The Shia cleric also demanded that Karachi be deweaponised.

While talking to the media, Allama Abbas reiterated that the blast was not a result of sectarian violence.

He also questioned the government’s commitment to the fight against terrorism. He further asked the government to declare what steps it had taken to address the menace of terrorism.

Earlier on Sunday evening, a massive blast ripped through Abbas Town in Karachi, leaving 45 people dead and over 150 injured.
