Busted two held on gratification charges
The clerk was arrested and a case under section 161 and 5/2 Prohibition of Corruption Act and investigation started.
HARIPUR:
Two officials of passport office were arrested on gratification charges on Wednesday. An Anti-Corruption Police Inspector, Syed Mukhtar Shah quoted Syed Munawar Shah, a resident of Khalabat Township as saying that he applied for a new passport some seven months back. However, he said, the local authorities kept delaying the process. On Tuesday, a clerk namely Gul Khitab asked him to pay up Rs2,000 to the assistant director if he wanted to collect the passport without inordinate delay. The complainant said he approached the Judicial Magistrate Naveed Ahmed who signed the currency notes and later the complainant gave the money to Assistant Director Khalid Hussain. No sooner than Hussain accepted the graft, the anti corruption police headed by the judicial magistrate arrested him red handed. The clerk was also arrested and a case under section 161 and 5/2 Prohibition of Corruption Act and investigation started.
