LADIESFUND to announce awards for businesswomen

Three awards, 11 scholarships to be handed out.

The polls are already open for public voting, and the awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 2, at the Mohatta Palace Museum, Karachi.

KARACHI: “Business always has its ups and downs. I once ran into bankruptcy, but I kept working and eventually succeeded,” Zeenat Saeed Ahmed, CEO of Taneez – a well known silver-plated and handcrafted home accessories brand – said at a press conference on Monday.

The press conference was organised by the Dawood Global Foundation to announce the 5th LADIESFUND Women’s Awards – an initiative to train, support and provide financial help to women entrepreneurs.

Zeenat’s company was ranked the 14th-fastest growing company in Pakistan Fast Growth 100.

Judges have shortlisted five finalists in the three categories for the awards.

The polls are already open for public voting, and the awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 2, at the Mohatta Palace Museum, Karachi.

In addition to the accolades, four scholarships for girls will also be awarded that will enable them to attend the Iqra University. In addition, seven international scholarships for high school and college students will be given out, to help girls attend summer courses in American universities, said Tara Uzra Dawood, president of the Dawood Global Foundation.

Jehan Ara, president of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA). She announced a grant of Rs850,000 from the P@SHA Social Innovation Fund for a business start-up by a woman.
