Deadly clash: Two ‘robbers’ killed in ‘encounter’

One robber managed to escape.

BAHAWALPUR: Two robbers were killed while one managed to escape in an encounter with the police here on Sunday night, police said. Police said Faraghat Ali, a resident of Shahpur, was riding his motorcycle on the National Highway, when near Aaloo Ghot village, three men on motorbikes intercepted him and snatched his motorbike. SHO Muslim Zia led a police party chasing them. The robbers fired on policemen who returned their fire and shot two of them. The third one managed to escape. Police took the injured to hospital but they died on the way. Police said they recovered two motorcycles, a .222 rifle and a pistol from them.
