The shrine of Ghazi Ghulam Shah Mari was packed with visitors when a huge explosion was heard. Several policemen swarmed to the site of the blast as casualties were shifted to civil hospital in Shikarpur. The injured included a key caretaker of the tomb.
Locals said that the shrine was always bustling with activity on Monday and Thursday nights – making it the perfect time for mounting an assault. Others claimed to have spotted a man who left a “black shopping bag” at the entrance of the mausoleum, 15 minutes before the blast.
The bomb disposal squad was summoned from Larkana to check and clear the site of the explosion.
Six days ago, a Muslim cleric was injured in a bomb attack in Jacobabad – located some forty kilometers away from Shikarpur.

Terrorists just want publicity. What diff does it make which community these clerics belong to. Killing any religious preacher gives them instant publicity - more than killing normal folk.
@Syed: Well you send money out it is importing
few months ago, terrorists did set ablaze a Kashmiri sufi shrine too.
Motives unknown: Blast at Sindh shrine kills 2, injures 12
Aren't the motives and the culprits well known! Everyone knows who has the history of destroying shrines, and why.
Sindh is center of religious tolerance and Sufism. Extremists never found any welcome gesture in Sindhi population but these current events show that extremist groups want to make in roads in Sindh too. Civil society, media, intellectuals, scholars and people of Sindh should unite to nip these criminals in bud before too late.
sorry, should have said stop exporting.
@Abdus Quddus. I very much agree that they destroy families. I also think the US should pressure Saudis to stop interfering with Pakistan and stop importing money into these madrassas that are creating this terror.
The terrorists have no remorse in attacking devotees at a shrine. We strongly condemn this attack and our condolences go out to the families of the dead. We should wonder if even for a second these terrorists realize that when they kill one person they destroy a whole family. These shameful acts of terror will continue against innocent folks, unless we all stand up against these killings and make our voices heard.
