Acting upon the advice of Prime Minister of Pakistan the president elevated the former Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Rehman to the apex court as nominated by the Judicial Commission.
The President’s spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar in a press statement said that Justice Rehman was being elevated as a Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment in superior courts.
Separately Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court IHC. His nomination was unanimously approved by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.
The appointments were pending after President Zardari filed a reference in the Supreme Court over the issue of seniority between Justice Kasi and Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan of the IHC since both had taken oath as judges on the same day, but differed in age.
