Prayer leader shot dead in Karachi, possible killer apprehended

Protests erupt near Korangi Crossing where unidentified armed men shoot dead prayer leader.

KARACHI: Protests broke out near Korangi crossing in Karachi on Saturday after the prayer leader of a mosque was shot dead shortly after evening prayers, Express News reported.

Express News correspondent Nadeem Afzal said that prayer leader Qari Ameen was shot dead by unidentified armed men outside Bilal mosque located near Korangi Crossing.

However, some people in and around the mosque managed to catch one of alleged killers. Afzal said the people beat up the suspect before handing him over to authorities at the Ibrahim Hyderi police station.

Though after the attack, some people started protesting at Korangi Crossing. The protesters have blocked the road for traffic and stores were forcibly closed. Tyres were also burnt.
