When a person is sentenced to death and also a monetary fine Also non payment of fine will extend jail term for another six months. ( will the jail term be applied after his death if he fails to pay the fine).

I apprehend the punishment probably is for life term imprisonment presumed by the correspondent as death. penalty

Life term imprisonment means a term of size ably long period. (in India it is 14 years only)
