The policy outlines a plan to spend Rs2.5 trillion on the education sector in Pakistan for if and when it comes into power, according to a press release from the PTI.
Khan vowed to increase the education budget from 2.1% to 5% of the GDP and pledged to spend Rs2.5 trillion on education in what he described would be an ‘education emergency’ in the country, which would be declared the moment his party assumes power.
The PTI chief also said that his government would devolve educational institutions to the town level and their management would be devolved to district and sub-district levels.
He once again reiterated his party’s long-time stance on establishing a uniform education system throughout the country.
“The rich man’s son and poor man’s son will study the same syllabus,” the PTI chief had told an annual Insaf Students Federation convention last year.
The full text of the education policy can be read here.

Learn from a good friend http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17585201 China: The world's cleverest country?
Does this mean that IK would be propping up a network of madrassahs with the help of his mentors and heroes Taliban?
Great news, but could PTI or Khan sahib care to explain where this money is coming from, 55% of the budget is spent on defence and 40% on debt servicing, that leaves only 5% for everything else. Yes I know he will increase the revenue by going after the corrupt - who by then would have left the country with all their ill-begoten wealth, it will take more 90 days to extradite them. Believe me the revenue will first decline before it increases when Khan sahib's plocies take over, so the size of the pie is going to get smaller - so will it still be R2.5T or can we replace the T with B, and then and M and finally L. Good Luck.
Khan Sahib, your good intentions cannot be doubted and challenged, but is our nation and more importantly voters ready to appreciate your vision? You are the only leader in our country that has vision, but does vision alone will help you finish the line first? As the people you are competing against, nevertheless that do not have vision, they have tricks, deep pockets and are master in election gimmick.
@Ch Allah Daad: Chadry sahab you appear to be a matwala. The only problem with matwalas is that they regard Nawaz's bladness as his sagacity and wisdom, whereas it is a mere medical disorder.
we trust you IK. vote for a change
My kids would be in Beacon House: wow!!!
Does this also include Madrasa education?
Thanks for all the great advice, kids. As I said, I am a simple guy and I simply don't have time to go through links and pages to dig out information. May be your media team can spit out some bullets which can save me and countless others to go over economic jargon. You know , being an engineer I am more interested in finals result and I'll prefer leaving digging to more qualified people.
HOPES ARE HIGH KHAN! PRETTY AWESOME OUTLINE GIVEN BY FAR THUMBS UP FOR SUCH A POSITIVE STEP LETS SEE :)
Imran Khan > Every politician Pleaaaase, for the sake of Pakistan's survival and brilliant changes, vote for PTI!
..... and meanwhile other parties are busy hoarding "electibles".
Its now or never. Vote for the righteous. Vote for change. Vote PTI.
Where to start
1 - devolve educational institutions to the town level and their management would be devolved to district and sub-district levels - This is pakistani not some western country, devolution to this level will means wadera, chaudhries sardars having full control without any hindrance.
2 - Where will the money come from?
3 - Lastly education is now provincial matter how in God name he can promise one syllabus for all pakistan?
PTI general problem desi problems, walaeeti solutions.
@bayareaguy:
Part of the corruption is "Tax Evasion". So if he is able to fix corruption and collect taxes we will have more than enough money to fund that. Also if he reduces extravagant expenses by our VIPS (as promised) we will again have lot more cash. Cancelling current expenses allocated to run governor houses, PM houses etc and all the free perks that MPs abuse/enjoy will also free up a lot of cash.
So End of day it is Corruption (of all types) that is sucking up lot of money in many different ways, and bringing that back to government channel will allow to run many great projects.
I am just a Hopeful. Lets see how it goes, there are many people who prefer current parties who have been tested again and again and failed again and again. And if those people end up electing current duo (PML/PPP), we can live in same conditions for many more years to come.
@bayareaguy: For starters I would like to direct your attention to PTI's economic policy revealed a while back....Once you take the trouble to go through it you will definitely understand where the 2.9% will be conjured from...
Later we can move on to the intermediates and I will gladly direct you to more READING.
Regards
@Roni: Yes dear this tends to happen when you stick your head out once every few years to give your expert opinion on people working around the clock.......the result being you have no clue what you are rambling about...
Plz go through the economic policy in detail and dig out some PTI interviews regarding it to help you grasp where the world is going.....else you can simply return to watching House and leave the why's and how's to the people who are coming up with the whats...
@bayareaguy: Yes you are quite simple. The link is provided if you're interested read through their manifesto and economic policy. You'll then get your answers.
**@Ch Allah Daad:
When PTI will come into power, trillion Rs. Will be equal to one hundred dollars.**
You are right. The way rupee is crashing, it may worth nothing by the time PTI comes to power. After all, three months can be an eternity in politics. But don't worry darbari sahib, the news of Imran winning will make the rupee recover strongly. Cash some pounds and buy some rupees now!
@A. Etchen:
If you go through the economic policy, you'll have your answer...this particular concern was explained at its unveiling. Yes the teachers, parents, teachers and the governing board. Watch the video That can be a problem, hence the plan to improve the quality of teachers through teacher training programs and co-ordination with successful private schools (the program was discussed in detail in the seminar) can also be found in the slides This is not some random number pulled out of the air...the total rupee sum needed for this program was calculated in detail and it came to this. In other words this is not a sum they decided on and then made the policy, the vision was first constructed and the funds needed to implement it was then calculated which happens to arrive at 5% of the GDHope that answers your queries.
I am a very simple guy and need things to be explained in a very simple and basic manner. For example, as a start how will PTI govt fund this 2.5 Trillion program in the first place and how will that affect other govt ventures because there is only one tax payer and increasing education budget to 5% of GDP is a good wish but how you gonna implement that because it basically means taking away 2.9% of GDP from some other stuff. BTW I do expect a sane discussion because saying that after fixing corruption in 90 days, we will be swimming on a cash sea or reducing non-development expenditures to that level are not tangible in my simple mind.
Why only 5% why not 10 or 20%? It is easy to throw the numbers and get excited. When you transfer funds to education what would you cut from the budget? Once that is explained then that would be a plan or policy, without that it would be another 90 days promise. I hope he is right and gives a solid plan to cut the army expenses for education.
@A. Etchen: Don't remember the exact figures but they answered your 1st question in their economic policy. Also there is always space from improvement, but still I think a detailed manifesto like this is way better than emotional talks of other parties without facts and figures.
@A. Etchen: To your question, where will the money come from? See PTI's economic policy. Asad Umar is part of approval board for all policy proposals and he has outlined in detail under economic policy where will the additional funds come from. PTI's all policies presented so far (education / healthcare / education / economics / devolution / youth) are well integrated and mutually consistent. Industrial policy is next in line.
@Pakistani Ostrich: I'm afraid not..... reconditioning your noodles will take longer...
First of all, all the praise for taking a most desired step of putting up a manifesto for education before the election. It may force other parties to come up with their own educational manifestos. This is simply grade. Having said that, the PTI educational manifesto is full of wishes. It does not tell: 1. Where would the resource come from to bridge the gap between the present 2.1% and the promised 5%. 2. Who is the stakeholder that is mentioned in several places: is it students, parents or teachers? 3. if the existing class of teachers, especially in rural areas, would be good enough to enhance the standards, especially of English language learning. 4. if 5% of GDP would be enough to bring about this change
I was hoping that he would propose setting up a national educational volunteers corps (sipah-e-danish) out of university students to participate in (a) enhancing teachers' content knowledge to help them become better teachers, making time spent in sipah-e-danish compulsory for any future job.
Kaptaan. May Allah protect you and may the people of Pakistan vote PTI in!
No other politician will do this or even plan on doing this because that would mean the general public is more educated than them and will understand their tricks. Never in the history of our country we found someone this sincere. Do you part give Khan a chance. iA he got this.
@Ch Allah Daad: You may prove right if PTI comes into power after the next govt which happens to be of N league
@Zain Gilani: PTI education policy >> Metro bus
Once PTI receives majority votes in election and IK becomes the PM, literacy rate in pakistan will be 100%..............in just nintey days!
@Ch Allah Daad: "When PTI will come into power, trillion Rs. Will be equal to one hundred dollars". You have a good sense of humor.
@Ch Allah Daad: well said
God bless u and help u to win the upcoming election imran.
Mashallah! May Allah help you in this enormous endeavor to make Pakistan a great country of great people and great thinkers. Ameen
Good work. Thumbs up.
Great plan good wishes.
If you don't vote for PTI now, you are voting against Pakistan.
When PTI will come into power, trillion Rs. Will be equal to one hundred dollars.
Devolution of Education system at sub district level is how it happens in almost all developed countries. Unfortunately right now a big chink of Education system is out-sourced to Religious seminaries and Private profit making organizations. Providing quality education both religious and Secular is government's job. Government run institutes should provide religious training as well, if one wants to get proper instruction to become a religious scholar. After all we are an ISLAMIC republic. Religious extremism and in tolerance taught in most seminaries is due to government negligence.
Good plan IK. Lets see if you are indeed given a chance and after that if you keep these promises. So many IFs as of now.
well done pti.1 qaum 1 nizam.good work by pti ."The rich man’s son and poor man’s son will study the same syllabus"."He once again reiterated his party’s long-time stance on establishing a uniform education system throughout the country"
PTI Education Policy > Lahore Metro Bus!
Another beautiful stroke by The Khan! Vote for PTI Folks!
There should be different syllabus but the difference should be skills and knowledge based not the rich and poor.... It will erode the talent of a capable student if not challenged properly. Every where in the world there are different paths available to cater different apptitudes and capabilities.
That's great. I hope PTI can do some thing good in favor of Pakistan and Pakistani's. Education is the main thing which can change the future of Pakistan.
Brilliant PTI, just BRILLIANT. Vote for PTI for sure.
