City’s new police chief takes charge today

KARACHI: The Sindh government issued the notification of Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari’s appointment as the Karachi CCPO on Thursday. The city’s new police chief will take charge of his responsibilities from today (Friday).

“I will use all my professional experience to come up with a strategy for bringing an end to the target killings in the city,” Leghari told Daily Express.

“I will consult my subordinate officers soon and review the policy that is being implemented to tackle target killings so far.”

Leghari said that police officers, who are abetting criminals or harassing citizens, would not be spared and departmental action would be taken against them.

“There are plans to improve medical and other facilities for police officers and reward them for good performance.”

Other appointments

Under the implementation of the Sindh government’s directives, Rizwan Ahmed will become the Sindh finance secretary while Ishaq Lashari will become the additional chief secretary of finance.

Following these promotions, anti-corruption chairman Mushtaq Shah is likely to be appointed the RPO Hyderabad, RPO Sukkur Ramzan Channah the anti-corruption chairman and Police Training College, Saeedabad, principal commander Shaukat is likely to be made the RPO Sukkur.
