Shaheedi made these remarks while addressing a press conference in Quetta that condemned yesterdays deadly bombings that killed 80 people.
Commiserating with the mourning families, he put forward three demands.
He asked the army to take over the region and preserve peace and put an end to these killings.
He demanded security forces plan targeted operations on hiding places of suicide bombers and those who are responsible for sowing the seeds for sectarian violence. He demanded the immediate arrest and trial of the culprits involved.
He also blamed the government, saying that it had failed to maintain peace.
He also wanted the government to allow the public to practice self defence while remaining within constitutional limits.
Yesterday, MWM and Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) called for the strike in Quetta and various political and religious parties including Pashtunkhwa Map, Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) backed it.

Asking the culprits to take over?
Neither governor rule nor Army rule is the solution, solution is to stop hate factories which are producing hate, terror and extremism day and night. we must stop hate to stop shia killings. here is my take on this whole problem http://stopextremism.wordpress.com/2013/02/17/hate-is-the-reason/
The Army leadership is the root cause of all this problem
@Pan Mat: you and people like you do not have an iota of idea as to what strategic depth is? and what was meant by this when this thing was coined? my dear, there are people who complete MA Journalism and immediately become EXPERTS on all issues. No one ever said that Pakistan Army wanted to place some troops or strategic assets in Afghanistan. If Pakistan is poised towards her eastern border,, and,,,,,,,, when you are SURE,,,, that your western border is safe and not threatening,,, then this side or flank provides you,, a STRATEGIC DEPTH. but the problem is that every person in our country is a "Defense Analyst"
The military should take control of this area and bring back normalcy and soon other parts of Pakistan affected by militancy would be pleading them for the same. Gen Kayani and his men should now gear up to take control of Pakistan. Bye bye elections.
I don't agree with Army taking over, but I FULLY SUPPORT CALLING the ARMY and completely destroy the devils that are Taliban and their like minded leaders, those who are soft on them and not consider them as enemy.
Army can be called in to protect, not to take over governance. Select affected areas, bring them under a Disturbed Areas Act and deploy forces for the needed period there. But all this can be done under a democratic system. Politicians may be corrupt but they are not the ones gunning down people, nor are they expected to fight terrorists with guns in hand. If the Intelligence department gives information about terrorist hideouts to the local government and shows confidence that they will be able to take out the criminals, can't imagine the government would say, 'No, don't do that. Let more people die' This is basically an intelligence failure, them being either unable or unwilling or both to control the death merchants. How do you go about solving an intelligence failure by handing over governance to Army? That's not possible.
Why should the army take over? Can't it do its job without taking over the country?
@Mohib:
How can you support army rule of your country? What good has the less than half a dozen army rules brought for your country? Can you name some in bullet points?
Balochistan is in Army's control but it is not taking action against Taliban infested areas in Quetta where Lashkar-e-Jhangi men are moving around. That is the main concern. That is why people like Governor Balochistan are compelled to think that either security agencies are supporting terrorists or they are are fearful of them.
@Lahori: Dream on.
We have already over burdened our Army, they are spilling their blood on the Indian borders for our safety and security.. Pak Army cannot be our saviour everywhere.. we have lost many sons of the soil .I hope Army can save our Hazara brothers from the menace of Pakistan politicians.. We are all Hazaras, we are all Pak Army... .
Pan Mat: Ok, and what extra ordinary measures did our democratic government do in last five years to address the issue? Our democrats have only one priority and that is to loot and they are the most talented people in this regard. If they divert even 10% of their concentration from corruption, power and hypocrisy to peoples lives, things will show improvement. But that is not something which 'democracy' is meant about in our country.
@Khan Bhai: The Army is holed up in the Cantonment, whats stopping them from coming out of it? You think politicans are in any position to give orders to the military to begin with?
Balochistan is already Under Army. What he say??
I dont support this democracy of electables where people get jobs or BISP in return for their votes.
I firmly believe that Imran Khan with a strong team excluding Qureshis, Hashmis or Kasuris and including highly educated trained professionals could bring normalization to Pakistan
@Nadir: Give me a break. Rangers and Police are all there is. Besides we have already seen what the police does. They don't even show up for work! How can they protect anyone? Govt in Balochistan is non-existent. Either bring competent government or simply let army root out these elements.
And he thinks that the Army doesnt control Balochistan already?
what than it will shift to karachi , after karachi it will be punjab than kpk ... there is no end to this .. an all out campaign against all sorts of extremist is the imediate need , without that there is no stopping.
Yes! Army have to take over Balochistan, because Federal Government and Military Forces has fail to gave a safe side to these innocents people. Chief Justice should also take somoto of this blast. Army Chief Ishfaq Kiyani has to take step on this issue, cause you have taken a promise to gave us safety. Think about SIR!
For Hazarian people " DO NOT WORRY ! WE ARE WITH YOU ALWAYS"
Well said Mohib
WE need the ARMY in SOON
why doesn't Supreme Court takeover Quetta. Appoint Arsalan Iftikhar as Governor Balochistan
Probably an impractical idea since part of this Frankenstein is result of Army's strategic depth policy.
Wow! Never ever before I have seen people coming and saying publicly that Army should take over. What more would do you want than this slap on those who support such a democracy in Pakistan.
I would say Army should take over the entire Pakistan. If we let this 'democracy' continue further, Quetta won't be the only place suffering.
