LAHORE: Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sidhu of the Lahore High Court issued a notice to the Attorney General Pakistan (AGP) on Friday regarding a petition moved by 18 army officials. Sagheer Ahmad and others have moved a petition stating they were sacked from the military and sentenced to 10 years without mentioning the period of custody. They said earlier the Field Court Martial had directed prison authorities to grant them relief and consider the custody period as part of their punishment but the authorities were using delaying tactics. Deputy Attorney General Iftikhar Shahid said the Supreme Court had granted the petitioners leave for re-hearing of the case. Adiala Jail Superintendent Malik Mushtaq said he had not received any directions regarding inclusion of the custody period in the prisoners’ sentence.  The judge issued a notice to the AGP directing him to appear before the court and file a reply by March 18.
