National Women’s Day: Women urged to participate in elections

AF Regional Coordinator said that women should participate in politics, business and state affairs.

PESHAWAR: Speakers at a conference on Thursday underscored women’s participation in the upcoming elections to resolve their problems. The conference was organised by the Aurat Foundation (AF) and attended by a large number of women from Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Lower Dir, Kohat, Swat and Malakand. AF Regional Coordinator Sherin Javed said that they are focusing on raising awareness of gender-based violence, providing a forum for dialogue and information sharing, expressing solidarity with survivors and victims of gender-based violence and celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of the women. She said that women should participate in politics, business and state affairs, adding that though they have been facing challenges in performing their duties, but the situation can be overcome by changing the mindset of the society.
