ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said on Wednesday that the notification of Justice Hameedur Rehman should be issued by the government so that the Supreme Court could dispose of a huge number of cases expeditiously.

Addressing a reference organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association in the honour of Supreme Court judge Justice Tariq Pervez, who is retiring today (Thursday), the chief justice said it is unfortunate that despite the recommendations of the Judicial Commission and Parliamentary Committee and approval by the president, elevation of Justice Rehman has not been notified.
