KARACHI: A high-level delegation of the World Bank has stressed the need to bolster public private partnerships in the city’s development projects. The delegation said this during a meeting with the commissioner of Karachi at his office here on Tuesday. The Karachi commissioner said that unified development agencies or organisations are the top priority for speeding development progress, because uplift works cannot be carried out in a timely manner due to the control of land falling under different organisations. The commissioner told the delegation that a lack of authority was the biggest hindrance in the development works of the city. He said that the government was working on different projects under public private partnerships, besides encouraging private investment in this regard.
