Alleged torture: Protest as man dies in police custody

The body has been sent to the DHQ hospital.

HAFIZABAD: The family of a man, who died due in alleged police torture, protested against the police on Monday. The protesters blocked the Pindi Bhattian Road by burning tyres. They demanded actions against the Kot Naka police post personnel for torturing the man to death. They said Naveed Ahmed was arrested on Sunday night over charges of street crime and taken to the police station. They alleged that the police beat him up so bad that he died. The father of the deceased said that the police later called him and told him to take his son back. When he went there, he found that his son was dead. He said there were bruises all over his body suggesting that he had been beaten up. The body has been sent to the DHQ hospital. Police said they had not beaten the man. They said he had fainted during interrogation after what seemed to be a heart attack.
