Talking to media in Islamabad, Malik said the Taliban have nominated Adnan Rashid, a proclaimed offender, for holding talks with the government on their behalf. Rashid, Malik said, had run away from police custody.
The minister further said that TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan has no credibility, adding that Taliban cannot befool the Pakistani nation by such jokes.
Malik pointed out that all statements by the Taliban that seem to be made on the directions by someone else as they don't seem to be that of the TTP. However, the minister appreciated the offer of talks with Taliban before the general elections and termed it as a good omen.
Malik once again urged the militants to give up violence, the oft stated precondition to talks.
"If they believe in Pakistan's sovereignty, they must stop killing innocent people," he said, adding that the murder of one innocent person was like killing the whole of humanity.
Responding to a question, he said that the Taliban had first threatened to kill Tahirul Qadri, but three days later, they denied their statement.
Responding a question about providing the security to the international players during Pakistan Super League, he said, "We are a cricket loving nation and will leave no stone unturned to provide foolproof security to all the players".
He assured all the players would really enjoy playing in Pakistan as they will have good crowd.

The Taliban will talk if they are in a position of weakness. Right now they seem to be in a position of strength
To all Talibaans! Lay down your weapons first, and show clean intentions. Using desperate political sympathizers is futile. Prove yourself as sane to talk to. Bullying & killing innocent Pak citizens is no-way to peace. Pak government is by the people's choice and you guys are just ghosts of the darkness, blood thisty and outcast gangs of out-laws. I know it's not easy for you but why did you go that way anyway, love of guns or hatred for general Pak citizen? Tell us!
@ Rax minor and black . "'Malik sabka ek''
Top etablishment has to be pleased at any cost and Malik has to do it . Now there is no option before him and so is with Talibans and he seems to be ready to do it .
Please tell me about the Top establishment , Is it UN or US or both or many ? If it is so then no one can afford to ignore it . Then why not by poor Malik , Kayani and else .
Are you damn/dead serious about peace talks and negotiations with Taliban and how much you are or you have been credible and trustworthy for Taliban for peace talks and negotiations Rehman Malik?????
The military should now be asked to launch a decisive operation against the Taliban which is pending for a long time since hundreds of innocent lives including soldiers have been lost and country is heading for an anarchy.
It seemed to me like a joke wheb taleban wanted corrupt leaders like nawaz and fazl as government leaders they are willing to negotiate. So yes taleban are.as corrupt as these leaders.
The Taibans should have nominated Mr Malik to talk on their behalf! Does any one know if this guy is required by law to wear a cap?
great..time to wipe these barbarians from the face of this earth. Carry out a full fledged operation and kill the top leadership of TTP before Nawaz Sharif comes in power.
Have to agree with Malik on this. Taliban have never kept their word. Munafiqat kartay hain
@Enlightened: If establishment had any bad intención, it will take just few hours to takeover from the present corrupt civilian govt and they will be welcomed by the general public...remember...
With all the machinary of the state at their disposal, with their highly touted nukes, armed forces, espionage agencies,Pakistan has not been able to defeat few thousand Taliban. It is not the lack of rsources ,rather lack of will that has made the country hostage to these fanatics. You keep giving in to the demands and whims of these misguided fanatics and one day they will take over the whole nation. Crush them ,before they destory you. But you need a multi pronged strategy and Pakistan lacks the will and resolve to do so !
For once, Rehman is right. TTP have thrown a bait. As far as credibility is concerned, neither the TTP nor the current government are renowned for it.
Mr Malik is absolutely spot on this time. I prefer him over Taliban!!
The statement has been made on direction of the top establishment.
The fact of the matter is that Mr Malik is a joke
No offense to anyone but for the rarest times I agree with the interior minister!
