LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday sought reply from the government on a petition against Ujala Programme, initiated by the chief minister to provide solar home solution (SHS) systems to 200,000 people.

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan is hearing the petition moved by a citizen, Mian Daud. The petitioner submitted that the project will benefit certain groups for political reasons. He requested the court to stop the project and said that the government was using the SHS systems to gain votes in the upcoming general elections. The court heard initial arguments and has sought reply from the provincial government on February 12.
