ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction over the non-recovery of money in the Hajj corruption case and asked why no arrest has yet been made.

Heading a three-judge bench, the CJ said that the court has been receiving more complaints regarding this multi-million-rupee Hajj scam. Federal Investigation Agency officials informed the court that investigations are underway.

The CJ repeatedly asked why no progress had been made on a matter of corruption worth Rs460 million. Counsel for Abdul Qadir Gilani, the son of former premier, criticized the conduct of Hussain Asghar, saying the investigation officer was targeting Gilani instead of focusing on other aspects of the case. To this, the CJ replied that the court has already prohibited the harassment and victimization of anyone during the investigation. The FIA officials sought time from the court, saying that the investigation officer was on leave. The case was adjourned until February 25.
