The Supreme Court has rejected the bail application of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao during the hearing of former minister's plea in the Akbar Bugti murder case, reported Express News.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said the courts' reputation was at stake and whomsoever's application gets rejected complains justice has not been served.

Aftab Sherpao was bailed out of an anti-terrorism court and filing a bail again is not required, said the chief justice.

The defence counsel for Sherpao, Iftikhar Gilani, further added that the trial court bailed him for a defined time period and arrest orders can be issued. Responding to CJ’s order of filing the plea in the High Court, he said this means his client has to go to jail.

Earlier, in September 2012, the division bench of the Balochistan High Court extended the interim bail of Aftab Sherpao in the Nawab Bugti murder case.

The court had ordered the Crime Branch to investigate the case and record fresh statements of Sherpao.

Aftab Sherpao as an interior minister is as much responsible for the killing of Bugti as Musharraf. Similarly, he also shares responsiblity for the killings at Lal masjid. I wonder why the supremem court and chief justice are silent over him and others, even though the supreme has ruled that it was an illegal operation and that hundreds of innocent peole were killed. So why not take action????
